Our Beliefs

Statement of Beliefs

Section 1: The Bible.
We believe the Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God (Ps. 119:160; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12-13; 2Tim. 3:16-17). In Faith we hold the Bible to be without error in the original writings, God-breathed and the complete and final authority for Faith and practice (2Tim. 3:16-17). While still using the individual writing styles of the human authors, the Holy Spirit perfectly guided them to insure they wrote precisely what He (God) wanted written, without error or omission (2Pet. 1:21).

Section 2: God.
We believe in one God, who is Creator of all (Deut. 6:4; Col. 1:16; Rev. 4:11), who has revealed Himself in (3) Three distinct persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; 2Cor. 13:14), yet who is One in being, essence and glory (John 10:30). God is eternal (Ps. 90:2), infinite (1Tim. 1:17) and sovereign (Ps. 93:1). God is omniscient (Ps. 139:1-6), omnipresent (Ps. 139:7-13), omnipotent (Rev. 19:6) and unchanging (Mal. 3:6; Heb. 7:21; James 1:17). God is Holy (Is. 6:3; Rev. 4:8), just (Deut. 32:4) and righteous (Ex. 9:27). God is love (1John 4:8), gracious (Eph 2:8), merciful (1Pet. 1:3) and good (Rom.8:28).

Section 3: Jesus Christ.
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is God incarnate, God in human form, the express image of the Father, who, without ceasing to be God, became man in order that He might demonstrate who God is and provide the means of salvation for humanity (Matt. 1:21; John 1:1, 1:14-18, 14:9; Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:3). We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary (Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:35). And that He lived a perfect, sinless life (1John 3:5) and that all His teachings are true (John 14:6). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the Cross for all humanity (1John 2:2) as a substitutionary sacrifice (Is. 53:5-6). We hold that His death was sufficient to provide salvation for all who receive Him as Savior (John 1:12; Acts 16:31) that our justification is grounded in the shedding of His blood (Rom. 3:24-25, 5:9; Eph. 1:7) and that is attested by His literal and physical Resurrection from the dead (Matt. 28:6; 1Pet 1:3). We believe the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven in His glorified body (Acts 1:9-10) and is now seated at the right hand of God as our High Priest, Intercessor and Advocate (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25, 9:24; 1John 2:1-2).

Section 4: The Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 16:13-14). The Holy Spirit regenerates sinners (Titus 3:5) and indwells believers (Rom. 8:9). He is the agent by whom Christ baptizes all believers into His body (1Cor. 12:12-14). This happens at the exact point of salvation (born-again). He is the seal by whom the Father guarantees the salvation of believers unto the day of Redemption (Eph. 1:13-14). He is the Divine Teacher (1John 2:20, 27). He illumines believers hearts and minds as they study the Word of God (John 15:8-11; 1Cor. 2: 9-12; 2Cor. 3:6). We believe the Holy Spirit is ultimately sovereign in the distribution of spiritual gifts (1Cor 12:11). We believe the miraculous gifts of the Spirit, while by no means outside of the Spirit’s ability to empower, no longer function to the same degree they did in the early development of the Church (1Cor. 12:4-11; 2Cor. 12:12; Eph. 2:20, 4:7-12). This statement does not limit God’s ability to perform miracles as He chooses.

Section 5: Angels and Demons.
We believe in the reality and personality of angels. We hold that God created angels to be His servants and messengers (Neh. 9:6; Ps. 148:2; Heb. 1:14). We believe in the existence and personality of Satan and demons (Matt. 4:2-11; 2Cor. 4:4; Eph. 6:10-12). Satan is a fallen angel who led a group of angels in rebellion against God (Is. 14:12-17; Ezek. 28:12-15; Rev. 12:9). Satan is the great enemy of God and mankind, and the demons are Satan’s servants in evil (2Cor. 11: 14-15). Satan and his demons will be eternally punished in the lake of fire (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 20:10).

Section 6: Humanity.
We believe that humanity came into existence by the direct creation of God and that humanity is uniquely made in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26-27, 2:7). We believe that all humanity, because of Adam’s fall, has inherited a sinful nature (Gen. 3:6-24; Rom. 5:12, 19). That all human beings choose to sin (Rom. 3:23). And that all sin is exceedingly offensive to God (Rom. 6:23). Humanity is utterly unable to remedy this fallen state outside of God’s provision (Eph. 2:1-12).

Section 7: Salvation.
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross (Eph. 2:8-9). Christ’s death fully accomplished justification through faith as well as redemption from sin. Christ died in our place (Rom. 5:8-9) and bore our sins in His own body (1Pet. 2:24). We believe that salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Acts 4:12). Good works and obedience are results of salvation, not requirements for salvation. Due to the greatness, sufficiency and perfection of Christ’s sacrifice, all those who have truly received Christ as Savior are eternally secure in salvation, kept by God’s power (Col. 1:4-8), secured and sealed in Christ forever (John 3:36, 5:24, 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; Eph. 1:13-14; 1Pet. 1:5; Jude 24). Just as salvation cannot be earned by good works, neither does it need good works to be maintained or sustained. Good works and changed lives are the inevitable results of salvation (James 2).

Section 8: Dispensationalism.
We believe that the scriptures interpreted in their natural and literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of management, which defines man’s responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these: the age of law, the Church age and the Millennial Kingdom age are the subjects of detailed revelation in scripture (John 1:17; 1Cor. 9:17; 2Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:13-25; Eph. 1:10, 3:2-10; Col. 1:24-25; Heb. 7:19; Rev. 20:2-6).

Section 9: The Church.
We believe that the Church, the Body and Bride of Christ, is the spiritual organism made up of all believers of this present age (1Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-27). We believe in the ordinance of believer’s water baptism by immersion as a testimony of Christ and identification with Him. Water baptism is not necessary for salvation and should not be confused with the Holy Spirit’s baptism, which happens at the point of salvation and seals the believer forever in Christ. We believe in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper and celebrating it as a remembrance of Christ’s death and shed blood (Acts 2:42, 18:8; 1Cor. 11:23-26; 2Cor. 1:22, 5:5; Eph. 1:13-14, 4:30). Through the Church, believers are taught to obey the Lord and to testify concerning their faith in Christ as Savior as well as to honor Him by holy living. We believe in the Great Commission as the primary mission of the Church. It is the obligation of all believers to witness, by word and actions, to the truth of God’s Word (Mark 16:15). The gospel of the Grace of God revealed through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit is to be communicated to all the world (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; 2Cor. 5:19-20). We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament scriptures (Acts 14:27; 1Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11). We believe in the autonomy of the local Church, free of any external authority or control (Rom. 16:1-4; 1Pet 5:1-4). We believe that divinely ordained marriage is between one man and one woman. Any other combination of sexes and/or species is in direct opposition of God’s will, divine order and correct Bible teaching (Gen. 1:27-28, 2:21-25; Matt. 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; Eph. 5:22-33; Heb. 13:4).

Section 10: Things to Come/the Eternal State.
We believe in the blessed hope (Titus 2:13), the personal premillennial, pretribulational and imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to rapture His saints (1Thess. 4:13-18). We believe in the visible and bodily return of Jesus Christ to the earth with His saints to establish His promised Millennial Kingdom (Zec. 14:4-11; 1Thess. 1:10; Rev. 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:5-6 and 12-15). We believe that the souls of believers are, at death, absent from the human body and present with the Lord, where they await their resurrection when spirit, soul and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord (Luke 23:43; 2Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23, 3:21; 1Thess. 4:16-17). We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious misery until their resurrection, when, with soul and body reunited, shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgement, where the verdict of eternal death shall ensue and they shall be cast into the lake of fire to suffer everlasting punishment for their refusal to believe in God’s provision of salvation through Jesus Christ (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16: 19-26; 2Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 20:11-15).

Section 11: Freedom of Worship and Affirmation of our Beliefs. We believe in freedom of worship without interference from government and we affirm our belief in civil obedience, unless the laws and regulations of civil government run contrary to the Holy Scriptures outlined in the Bible (Rom. 13:1-7; 1Pet. 2:13-15).
